About the Event

The Font Rocha Natural Park was the first park in the Valencian Community to be declared as such in 1987. With more than 2,400 species, it has most of the biodiversity of the Valencian Community, and its forests are mixed Mediterranean with maples, ashes, and gall oaks. The forest, a Site of Community Interest (SCI) is located between Alcoy and Ibi and is a special area for the protection of birds.

Font Roja was declared a Natural Park by the Generalitat Valenciana in 1987, thus becoming the first natural park in the Valencian Community.

The Natural Park has the greatest biodiversity in the entire community, with more than 2,400 cataloged species, and one of the best examples of a mixed Mediterranean forest, hosting deciduous species such as maples, ash trees, and gall oaks (called Valencian oak). It is located between the towns of Alcoy and Ibi and is one of the best-preserved natural areas in the Valencian Community. Font Roja also presents a great diversity of environments of high ecological, and landscape value and is a special bird protection zone (ZEPA) as well as a place of community interest (SCI).

We will start the trail in Jesús Pobre, near Hotel La Sella. The track begins with skirting around the slope to Denia, entering the massif, and then approaching the Cruz de Dénia which is located at 690 meter height.
