Hiking Castillo de Castro
Through this route, that starts from Alfondeguilla and will lead us to Castro’s Castle, you will be able to dive into beautiful forests and enjoy breathtaking views. Doing this route will also allow us to have a look at the past: we will discover old Roman remains, such as aqueducts, ancient towers and walls. During this route, which is one of the most beautiful, you will walk into the forest and you will see breathtaking views.
We will start the route from Alfondeguilla, pass through the Fonteta ravine until we reach Castro’s Castle, which is located at an altitude of 787 meters above sea level. This fortress was erected by the Arabs but was used by the Romans as a watchtower.
Climbing up the path, you will be immersed in Roman times: you will find many remains of the past, such as an aqueduct known as “l’Arquet”. On top of the hill, arriving at the castle after almost two hours of walking, you will admire the remains of the wall, the tower and the fantastic panorama.
